Synthesizer tutorial for beginners

The link below will take you in a new tab to a synthesizer tutorial for beginners that I wrote some time ago for the SAE online magazine. Using the Reaktor® development environment, we build a very simple subtractive software synthesizer that has an oscillator, a filter and a volume envelope.

Synth specifications

Subtractive Mini-Synthesizer

  • 1 oscillator (sawtooth)
  • 1 filter (selectable between highpass, bandpass and lowpass, adjustable cutoff or center frequency and resonance)
  • 1 volume envelope (ADSR)
